Here’s a video of our last mission trip! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ThHiRUX3io
What do these all have in common?
- A week-long trip by adults and youth to New Orleans to help re-build homes devastated by hurricane Katrina
- A morning spent at A Baby Center in Hyannis, helping the needy parents of a new-born pick out a car seat and crib, signing them up for WIC and pointing them to other community resources, and offering them a warm smile and no judgment.
- An evening serving a home-made meal of meat loaf, potatoes, salad and dessert to 70 men and women at the NOAH Shelter.
- An offering collected at a church service to help fund the building of a retreat center in the Andes by the Pentecostal Church of Chile.
These are but a few of the many ways West Parish lives out the call of Jesus Christ to love our neighbor by reaching out to the world.
We live out that call to help others both collectively, as a congregation, and through the lives of individuals who come to West Parish to be empowered and equipped for service.
Mission – outreach – is the engine that makes the church run. The ways in which West Parish reaches out to the world are as varied and numerous as those who gather here: foreign mission partnerships, local mission engagement (for instance, Habitat for Humanity builds, aid to Independence House and the Housing Assistance Corporation), denominational support (Our Churches Wider Mission), disaster aid, and on and on.
Interested in helping out? We always have room for more people interested in devoting their time, their talent, and yes, even their treasure, that we might reach out to a world in need.
(Okay, that’s not really the Mission Outreach Board, but it is filled with angels who shepherd our time and talent and treasure towards helping the wider community!)
